Autumn Banner

I'm the type of person who doesn't like to decorate much for Halloween.  I have a few Halloween decorations, but I prefer to focus on Fall.  My only reasoning for this is because I am very, very lazy, and would prefer to put stuff out for two months rather than just one.

If this banner would have said "Happy Halloween" or "Boo", I would have missed out on an extra 30 days of letting it hang out in my living room.  I'm sure you get my point.  I have wanted to make a banner or bunting for years, and I don't know why it took me so long to make one.  I think because I wasn't sure how I wanted to make it, and I needed time to put it together in my mind.

For this project I utilized all of my favorite things -- lots of color, wool felt, embroidery and a fun print.  Once my design was figured out, it really didn't take much time to put together.  Cutting was definitely the most challenging part.

Here is a close-up of one of the letters.  You can see how I used a simple embroidery stitch to adhere it to the fabric (which is just muslin).  I did use the double-sided fusible interfacing to adhere the letters first, before I stitched, but I like that the stitching adds more color and more stability.

Isn't this print adorable?  Julia and I bought it on our trip to Fabric Depot together last month and are kicking ourselves that we didn't buy the whole bolt because it was on sale for $2/yard.  I'm already planning the banner I will make for the Christmas season.  In the comments, let me know if you'd like a tutorial.
