How to make Pom-Poms

I  started making these pom-poms a while back to add to headbands.  The girls love them!  Pom-poms add a little girly flare to many of things I make them.  I thought I would share with you today how to make your own.  Here is the great part-- THEY ARE SUPER EASY!

You can make pom-poms out of yarn, any knit fabric, or tulle.

Do you want to make your own?

Follow these super easy steps:

First off cut a strip the width of your fabric only 1/2 inch in width.  So the length should be about 45 inches.  If you are using yarn keep in mind the longer the length the fuller the pom-pom.

Next wrap the material or yarn around your 3 fingers.  This makes a nice 2 inch pom-pom.  Wrap until don't have any more material.  I wrap about 100 times with yarn for the perfect thickness.

Then carefully remove your fingers from the center of the wrap and tie a 2 inch scrap piece around the center of your wrap.
Next fit your scissors through the loops and cut away!
Once you have cut both sides arrange all of the fray edges until they fill out into a pom shape.  You may want to trim around the pom to make all of the fray edges the same length.  Work with the pom until it looks nice puffy.  You shouldn't see the center tie in the middle when the pom is full.

Now go make a few and see how easy it is for yourself!
